According to Gwynn and Hadcock (1988, 318) 'in 1228 it was stated that a house of nuns adjoined the abbey of Cistercian monks [TS083-017----] …The nuns probably lived well away from the monks' enclosure, possibly serving in the almonry or lay infirmary beside the outer gate and chapel'.
