Though the Cistercian abbey (TS083-017----) no longer survives a medieval graveslab has been incorporated in the 19th-century C of I church which was built on or near the site of the monastery. This 13th-/14th-century graveslab is embedded in the floor at the threshold of the inner W door. It survives in two pieces, the lower portion being upside down. The upper portion of the slab (L 0.73m; Wth 0.69m), at the N end of the doorway, is decorated with an incised four-armed cross with trefoil terminals. The lower portion of the slab (L 0.53m; Wth 0.6m) has an incised cross-shaft which rests on a stepped base. There is a latin inscription, in Lombardic script, along the sinister side which reads: HIC IACET MA...I(G?) . AICIET':DS:. (Maher 1997, 66).
