What is recorded here

In gently undulating terrain, generally sloping to the SSW, in tilled field. Nicholastown Castle (TS082-043----) visible to NE. No visible trace of site above ground. The site is depicted as a circular area on the 1st 1843 ed. OS 6-inch map with a field boundary running NW-SE along the W quadrant. On the latest ed. the site is depicted as a roughly square area, the N and W sides have a heavier outline, possibly indicating that this was a pond.
