On top of a ridge running E-W, on the S edge. The monument is located in a very commanding position overlooking a steep-sided, flat-bottomed river valley. Roughly D-shaped enclosure (dims. 25m N-S; 26.5m E-W) defined by a low earthen bank (Wth 2.1m crest, 3.6m base; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.2m). There is a possible entrance in the E quadrant. The bank in the S quadrant is reduced to scarp (H 0.45m over 2m). A crescent-shaped annexe (dims. 6.5m N-S; 21.2m WSW-ENE) adjoins the S side of the monument, it is defined by earth and stone bank (Wth 3.7m; int. H 0.04m; ext. H 1.2m and continues to drop with natural slope) which runs along the edge of the ridge, following a natural spur. While the enclosure is morphologically similar to that of ringforts, the location is more typical of ringworks.
