The exact location of Kilcommon church (TS081-059----) or 'Cummian's Church' is unknown. According to Power (1908, 25) 'the site of the early church is within the Glengall demesne and quite close to the Swiss cottage. On the erection of the latter and the laying out of the ornamental grounds which surround it the ancient graveyard was disturbed and the bones of the dead, in many cases, removed'. There is no visible trace of the graveyard above ground.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
