On top of the SW edge of a ridge which runs N-S and slopes gently to the SW, in pasture. The Glennyrea River is located c. 60m downslope to the SW. The Civil Survey (1654-6) refers to Redhill castle (TS081-045001-) as 'a castle and some thatcht houses with a Bawne about them...the sd Castle, Bawne, and lands of Rehill (being a mannor) is appendant a Court-leet and a Court-Baron' (Simington 1931, vol.1, 374). On the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map a roughly square dashed area (dims. c. 31m x 33m) is depicted at the site of Rehill Castle, this may be an indication of the bawn. There is a short length (c. 23m) of scarp, denoted by hachuring, running roughly N-S c. 23m W of the site of the castle on the 2nd (1904-05) ed. OS 6-inch map but there is now no visible trace of a bawn above ground.
