What is recorded here

On the summit of a natural ridge (running E-W) which slopes slightly to S, in gently rolling pastureland. According to Power (1908, 73) a holy well (TS081-030002-), no longer visible, was situated close to the church. The church is mentioned by Power (ibid.) as being situated 'in a field adjoining the road on its western side'. The landowners were aware of the tradition of a church at this location. The church is described as 'site of' on the 1st ed OS 6-inch map, with a small circular area outlined by a dashed line. There is no visible trace of this church above ground level. This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
