What is recorded here

Rectangular hut site built into the SW slope of Knockeenatoung (601m) with hut site (TS080-019----) 430m to S. Listed by Costello (2016, 98; 2016, 312) as Coolagarranroe 2 and described as a rectangular-hut site (ext. dims. 6m x 3.75m; int. dims. 3.8m x 2.6m) aligned NE-SW with entrance in centre of S wall (int. H 1.1m; ext. H 0.45m; Wth 0.45m) facing downslope. This structure does not, however, have an internal division. The W wall of the building is difficult to define due to accumulated wall tumble either side of it. The N wall is built up against the slope. There is a probable trackway upslope of the building, a short section (1m) of which is revetted with stone. This leads to an area of former peat-cutting at higher altitude. Cultivation ridges are visible downslope to the SW of the building. They are bounded on the N by an earthen bank running cross-slope – presumably to prevent run-off from flooding the ridges (Costello 2020, 126).
