What is recorded here

On a gentle S-facing slope on broad ridge/hill. Pasture to W of ringfort. Post and wire fence runs roughly E-W up to W quadrant. Pasture to S, plantation of young deciduous trees to NE. Relatively new house immediately SE of monument, land immediately to S (E of N-S field boundary) has been sold recently along with the ringfort. Modern two storey house has been built in the field SW of the monument. Field boundary runs up to NW and SW quadrant running N-S and curves around W half of ringfort. Monument is roughly circular (ext. diam. including fosse c. 40m N-S). NW half of ringfort is defined by inner bank (Wth 2.9m crest, 5.8m base; H above int. 0.65m; H above fosse 1.4m) and wide fosse (Wth 3.5m). Outer earthen bank (Wth 3.9m; H above ext. 0.75m) only evident in W-NW quadrant may be a field bank which is respecting the existing monument. Outer fosse not visible in S quadrant, it peters out in SE. The inner bank in the SW quadrant is reduced to scarp. Interior is heavily overgrown with scrub. Ringfort visible on aerial photograph (GSI June (no year) S.510/511), when neither house to SW or E has been constructed, though the field boundary running N-S is visible.
