What is recorded here

On level ground, sloping very gently to E, in pasture. Monument is grass covered with no other vegetation. Hollow located immediately NW of moated site and another to SW, appear to be result of quarrying. Roughly square area (dims. 34m N-S; 35.2m E-W) enclosed by a bank which has been largely reduced to scarp (H 0.75-1.1m). As is typical of a square enclosure the angles are built-up to a greater extent than the sides. The moated site appears to have been ploughed over in the past, at which stage the outer bank was pushed into the fosse, creating an external berm (H 0.25-039m; Wth 3.4-6.5m). This berm is visible on the E and S sides. The external fosse (Wth 2.4m; D below int. scarp 0.55m) and outer bank (Wth 4.5m; int. H 0.42m; ext. H 0.07m) are only evident on the W side. Entrance with causeway (Wth c. 3.8m) in the centre of W side. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
