What is recorded here

In fairly level, low-lying terrain, gently undulating to SW, under lush pasture. Enclosure (TS076-022002-) visible c. 120m to E. Enclosure (TS076-022003-) and ringwork (TS076-022004-) are located 150m to ESE and 100m to SE respectively. Oval enclosure (diam. 33.6m N-S; 27.2m E-W) defined by an earthen and stone bank (Wth 1.6m crest, 4.8m base; int. H 0.85m; ext. H 1.4m) with stones protruding from surface. Interior grass and nettle covered. Lot of scrub on bank in W and SW quadrant. Entrance (Wth 3.3m) in E quadrant appears to have been broken through. Shallow fosse in SE quadrant (Wth c. 2.3m) is accentuated by lush grass and nettle growth. Along W side the bank is reduced to scarp. Field bank runs N-S immediately W of W sector. Clay dumped into fosse on W side between scarp and field bank. NW sector of ringfort appears to runs onto the N-S field bank, probably upcast from small quarry immediately NW of enclosure. NW quadrant is disturbed due to upcast from adjacent quarry. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
