What is recorded here

In pasture, at edge of old flood plain, on N side of stream. No visible surface trace. According to local information, wooden remains of a watermill adjacent to the stream were recovered during drainage works in 1960s. Pond at this location before it was drained and stream straightened, leaving undulating fields in floodplain either side. Lucas (1962) recorded the structure as a horizontal water mill chute during a subsequent NMI field inspection. Enclosures (TS069-075----and TS069-075001-) c. 150m to NW and (TS069-023----) 110m to SSW. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
