Unlocated castle within the village of Emly. In 1622 the Archbishop of Cashel visited Emly where he reported there were two castles, the 'great and the small', one of which had been the residence of the Bishop of Emly (O'Dwyer and O'Dwyer 1987, 26). The Civil Survey (1654-6) mentions an 'old castle' stands on the lands of Emly (ibid.). A castle (TS065-016----) is also depicted on the Down Survey map (1655-6) as being located NE of the medieval cathedral (TS065-013003-) (ibid.).
