What is recorded here

According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Knockanglass', which was under the proprietorship of ‘Edmond Kearney of Knockanglass Gent. Irish Papist’ in 1640, 'Upon these lands are some few inclosures with quicksetts about, one old thatcht house, with some Ash trees about ye Village' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 103). This settlement is unlocated within the townland of Knockanglass. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 22 January 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
