What is recorded here

In improved pasture, on a high point of the landscape, to E of a spot height (328ft). There are earthworks (TS062-120002-) to the E and S and a pond to the NW. A circular area (dims. c. 48m E-W; c. 45m N-S) defined by the remains of a bank reduced to a scarp (Wth 1.8m; H 1.3m); a fosse (ESE-S-WNW overall Wth 6.6m; basal Wth 3.1m; D 1.65m) and the possible remains of an outer bank (overall Wth 2.8m; Wth at top 0.9m; int. H 1.9m; ext. H 0.25m) at the W and ESE sectors. The fosse is wider and shallower in the SE quadrant (overall Wth 7.1m; basal Wth 2.9m; D 1.25m) and is waterlogged in the NW quadrant. There is a causewayed entrance (Wth 5.5m) at E which appears to relate to the earthwork extending eastward from the entrance. The interior is generally level with a raised oval area (long-axis c. E-W) in the N sector defined by a scarp (Wth 2.7m; H 0.35m). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
