What is recorded here

In horse paddock of stables, with nearby buildings to E, S and W. A circular area (diam. 30m) defined by a steep scarp (Wth 1.1m; H 2.20m), surmounted by dense hedgerow, with a retaining wall in the NW quadrant and a fosse (overall Wth 7m; basal Wth 3.1m; D 1.1m) from the NNE-E-S which is only accessible ENE-E-S due to overgrowth and is backfilled from S-W-NNE. There is an entrance gap (Wth 4m) at SSW. The interior is gently undulating with a rise in the W and NE sector, the former is possibly associated with the remains of a limekiln indicated on the W bank on the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map. A road runs WSW-ENE c. 11m to the NNW. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
