In undulating terrain under pasture. Old field boundaries have been removed and new field boundaries created. According to the OS Namebooks (O'Donovan 1840) this was 'the site of ancient fences forming an enclosure called Bally-na-scullog. There is here also the sites of ancient roads passing from the S.W. corner of the townland one through the western side & the other in a N.E. direction through the centre of the townland'. Roads visible on an aerial photographs taken in 1974 (GSI S.623/2). These have been levelled and are not visible at ground level.
