In undulating terrain on top of a low ridge within Railstown medieval settlement (TS061-126----), roughly mid-way along the western edge of the settlement. A possible rectangular building (dims. 5.5m N-S; 10m E-W), aligned E-W, which is badly eroded by cattle. This S and W sides of this possible building also forms the SW angle of a roughly rectangular enclosure or plot (dims. 24.4m N-S; 17.5m E-W), which is associated with the remains of a possible building (TS061-126006-) at the N end of the plot. The bank of on the S (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.3m; Wth at top 1.3m; overall Wth 2.7m) and W (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.3m; Wth at top 1.5m; overall Wth 2.8m) are well preserved, while the bank on the N side (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.17m; Wth at top 0.85m; overall Wth 1.9m) and on the northern end of the E side of this possible building is very poorly preserved. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 18 July 2012
