Lying in the choir of the cathedral (TS061-025003-) on the Rock of Cashel. The lower portion of a rectangular slab (L 1.57m; Wth 0.67m; T 0.05m) which has a crack across the slab face (Maher 1997, 73). The decoration consists of a cross-shaft with a single cross-band surmounting a stepped base (ibid.). A latin inscription, in Black Letter script, runs along the sides and base (ibid.). It has been transcribed by FitzGerald (1901-03, vol. 5, 437) as: HIC IACET JACOBUS BOITON CIVIS CIVITATIS CAS... / DNI MILLIO QUGINTESIO XIIII ET DAVID BOITON EIUS FILIUS / ME FIERI FECIT. Maher (1997, 73) translates this as, 'Here lies James Boyton citizen of Cashel....died 1513 [1514] and David Boyton his son who caused this monument to be erected'.
