In level pasture. According to the Civil Survey (1654-6), in 1640, 'Archybald Lord Archbishopp of Cashell', was owner of the 'Manor Court & lands of Camus halfe a colpe', 'Upon the s[ai]d lands stands a large stone house with a bawne about it' (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 376). The OS Letters (1840) describe the two mural towers on the bawn (TS060-026003-) as the, 'small remains of two square castles' (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 1, 118 (312-13). White (1892, 16) also mentions the remains of the bawn and that 'Archbishop Malcolm Hamilton died at his house at Camas, 25th April, 1629'.
