What is recorded here

In low-lying pasture. An oval area (dims. 36m NW-SE; 32m NE-SW) defined by scarp (Wth 3m; H 0.9m) WNW-N-SSW, fosse (Wth 7.85m; D 0.5m), bank (Wth 4.45m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.5m), outer fosse (Wth 6.6m; D 0.55m) and outer bank (Wth 6.35m; int. H 0.55m; ext. H 0.55m). The scarp could not be seen SSW-WNW due to dense overgrowth. The middle bank is visible NW-SSW but elsewhere is obscured by dense overgrowth. The outer bank is obscured by earthen material dumped around exterior NW-NE and is breached at E where a drain (long-axis E-W) extends through it from the outer fosse to the exterior. There is a causewayed entrance at the S (Wth 5m) and NE (Wth 2.5m). The interior is grass covered and slightly uneven. There is a rectangular depression (dims. 2.2m NE-SW; 1.5m NW-SE; D 0.25m) within the centre. There is a field boundary (long axis NW-SE) to the SW and another (long axis NE-SW) to the SE. A ringfort (TS059-094----) is located c. 150m to the SW. This is a National Monument (no. 550). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
