What is recorded here

On top of a locally prominent gently sloping hillock, in gently undulating pasture. Shown as a hachured circular area on the 1843 edition of the OS 6-inch map and as the presently surviving semi-circular area on the 1906 edition. Semi-circular slightly raised area (dims. 37m NNE-SSW; 18m WNW-ESE) defined by a steeply sloping scarp of earth and stone (Wth 1.75m; H 1m) with a possible external fosse (overall Wth 2m) SSW-NNE. The outer line of the possible fosse is now shown by a large modern field bank that lies 2m outside the external base of the scarped edge SW-N. The original entrance is not recognisable. The interior slopes slightly facing SE and is clear of overgrowth. A natural rock outcrop, known locally as a mass-rock (TS058-033001-), is located in the SW quadrant of the interior.
