In Killeen bog, S of Derrynaflan, a dryland island on which a monastery (TS054-002001-; TS054-002002-) is located. This structure (Wth 1.25m; D 0.43m; L 2.54m) was composed of a large roundwood and heavy brushwood elements (diam. 0.02-0.15m) visible in the drain face 0.34m below the field surface. It was also visible in the opposing drain face, with the majority of the elements orientated NW-SE. It was well preserved, except where exposed. The overlying peat was composed of moderately humified sphagnum with occasional phragmites and eriophorum inclusions.
