What is recorded here

A human skeleton and some horse bones along with six Elizabethan coins were uncovered by County Council workmen in 1947 when removing soil from a stone quarry in Ballinure (Kenny 1983-4, 111-13). The coins ranged in date from 1567-1590. The location of this burial is unknown within Ballinure townland. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
