What is recorded here

Reynolds (1975, 62) refers to an 'old village site' which was near the rath at Kilbreedy. The reference is attributed to Killanin and Duignan (1962, 277) but no reference to Kilbreedy appears there. There are two enclosures which may be the 'rath' referred to, a ringfort (TS052-041001-) in the northwestern portion of the townland and a large enclosure (TS052-047----) in the southwestern portion of the townland, bordering with Clareen townland. This possible settlement cluster remains unlocated within the townland. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
