In grassland atop high ground with good views in all directions. Several undulating earthworks in the field to the N and E of may be associated with this possible castle. The earthworks to the S of the castle appear to be the result of quarrying although some of these earthworks may be archaeological the low undulating do not appear to form any definite pattern. No surface remains of any building in area marked on six inch OS 6-inch map. OS Namebook (1840) record the discovery of "A mass of masonry through which the road runs, it appears to be the remains of a Gate, the Remains of an old Manor House". Depicted on OS 6-inch maps as old walls suggesting that this was the bawn wall of a manor house, earthworks in field to E of road may be associated with this old Manor house. Or this may have been the remains of a gateway into a medieval settlement through a town wall and the earthworks in the field to the S and E are the remains of a deserted settlement.
