On flat poorly drained grassland in upland area with good views in all directions. Field has recently been reclaimed and reseeded with grass except for area around circular moated site. Monument consists of a slightly raised circular area (int. diam. 30m N-S; 28m E-W) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (top Wth 2m; base Wth 4.5m; ext. H 1m; int. H 0.2m) with external waterlogged fosse (base Wth 2-3m; top Wth 4-5m; ext. D 0.7m). Gap (Wth 4m) in bank at SSW, may be original entrance which has been widened. Bank and outer fosse well preserved from NE to E, modern field boundary intersects bank and fosse at NW through N to NE destroying both enclosing features, this field boundary which is depicted on the latest edition OS 6-inch map is orientated NE-SW and cuts across the N quadrant of the monument. The interior is very wet which is unusual and this along with its location may suggest possible circular moated site classification. Suggestion of an outer bank from E to SE only, however this is covered in grass and vegetation making it impossible to take measurements.
