On a NW-facing slope of rising reclaimed grassland in the Slieveardagh hills with good views from S through W to N, higher ground to E. Located on the edge of a natural fall of ground overlooking marshy land to N and W. Nearby ringfort (TS049-023----) 230m to the E. Ringfort consists of a slightly raised circular area (diam. 24m N-S; 27m NW-SE) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (top Wth 1.7m; base Wth 3.5m; ext. H 1.1m; int. H 0.2m ) reduced to a scarp in places and outer fosse (base Wth 1.5m top Wth 2.5m; ext. D 0.25m). Possible entrance feature (Wth 3m) at SE. Interior has been quarried into at NW, enclosing bank shows evidence of cattle poaching along S edge, several cattle gaps in bank. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
