In the eastern recess in the N wall of the chancel of Kilcooly Abbey (TS043-034001-), on the mensa of the Pierce fitz Oge Butler effigial tomb (TS043-034012-), at the foot of the effigy. This limestone slab (dims. 0.78m x 0.51m; T 0.14m) appears to be a fragment of a graveslab which was possibly placed in its current position as part of a repair to the effigial tomb (Carrigan 1903, 453; Rae 1971, 22-3). There is a latin inscription in black letter script which is transcribed by Hunt (1974, 228) as: … AREPUS CASS' OMIB DICENTIB' PAR' NR & AVE and translated as: …Archbishop of Cashel grants to all who say a Pater Noster and Ave.
