What is recorded here

On flat slightly elevated pasture with good views in all directions. Early 19th century farmhouse located immediately to the SW of ringfort with a modern bungalow in the adjoining field immediately to E. A barrow (TS043-016----) is located 500m to the N and an enclosure (TS043-021----) 625m to the SE. A well-preserved ringfort consisting of a circular area (diam. N-S 35.6m; E-W 34.4m) enclosed by a bank (top Wth 1.7m; base Wth 4m; int. H 1.4-1.7m; ext. H 1.5-2m), fosse (base Wth 1.5m-2.5; top Wth 2.5m-3.5m; ext. D 1.2-0.3m) and possible outer bank (Wth 4m; ext. H 0.2m) visible from S to SE only. The inner bank appears to retain its original profile, with its inner and outer faces being vertical in places with no apparent soil creep or slump in bank profile. There is slight evidence for an internal stone revetment of bank from N to NE. There are cattle gaps (avg. Wth 1.5m) in the bank at N, E, SSW and W, all of which appear to be modern. The fosse is well preserved from W through N to NE where it is intersected by a modern field boundary and filled in from S to SW. The outer bank is only visible from S to SE and may not be original as it is possibly associated with a nearby farmhouse located in the SW corner of the field.
