What is recorded here

Situated on flat pasture with good views in all directions. A rectangular area enclosed by a large earth and stone bank (Wth 3m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.8m) with wide flat-bottomed outer fosse (Wth 2.65m; D 0.85m) the interior of which is heavily overgrown making detailed examination impossible. The area around the site is heavily overgrown with a nineteenth-century coniferous plantation as depicted on the OS 6-inch map. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
