Situated on a slight rise in gently undulating terrain, in pasture. The site is indicated as a rectangular enclosure on the 1st ed. (1843) OS 6-inch map but is not marked on the subsequent 1952-3 revision. A rectangular enclosure (dims. 25.7m NE-SW; 27.3m NW-SE) which was probably levelled between 1843 and 1952. Lush grass growth indicates the line of the fosse (Wth 3m) at NW and at the N and W angles. The NE side is not as clearly defined. The SE side is delineated by a hedgerow with a deep fosse along its NW side.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
