What is recorded here

Situated on the W-facing slope of a N-S ridge in undulating countryside. A raised square-shaped platform (dims. 52m N-S; 49m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 1-1.5m) with a modern gap (Wth 6.5m) at W and traces of a shallow outer fosse. Nineteenth-century farmhouse and garden enclosure to S and SE of platform. The field boundary enclosing the platform is probably contemporary with the farmhouse. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
