What is recorded here

Situated at the base of a gentle N-facing slope with a marshy river valley immediately to the N. Depicted as an oval-shaped enclosure on the 1st ed. (1843) OS 6-inch map but not shown on the 1952-3 ed. Not visible at ground level. The field boundary (Wth 1.2m; H 0.67m) to the W curves out to accommodate the former site. The field boundary to the N may be on the line of the N bank of the enclosure. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
