What is recorded here

The SE face of quarried rock has a sunken cross carved into it, indicating that this rock was used as a place to say mass during penal times. There is a small concrete platform in front of the rock face measuring 4m from E-W by 2m N-S which was built in recent times. This rock face is located on the SE facing slope of rising ground in an upland river valley with good extensive views of the valley to the E and S. This penal mass station is located on the local walking route known as the Kilcommon Pilgrim Route. Compiled by Caimin O'Brien Date of upload/revision: 27th October 2011
