In the course of field survey in Derryville bog a layer of stone was identified as a fulacht fia (Gowen 1999, Derryfadda 119, 113-4). It was 'located within a highly organic matrix mixed with charcoal, wood, clay and sand which was traced for 13m' (ibid.).
