What is recorded here

Situated on a slight rise above a river valley, in pasture. The river flows c. 20m SW of the site in a roughly E-W direction. Depicted as a circular enclosure on the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map. By the latest ed. (1902) the S half of the site had been destroyed and field boundaries put in place. The site has been levelled as are the field boundaries to the S and SW, however, a hint of a circular area (c. 23m N-S) is discernible as a very low bank. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
