What is recorded here

Situated in a flat valley with the Nenagh River c. 100m to the N and a stream (now underground) c. 60m to the S. A ringfort (TN033-007) lies c. 100m to the W and a standing stone (TN033-008) c. 60m to the NNE. The site is indicated as a circular enclosure on both the 1st and current eds. of the OS 6-inch maps. It was levelled in February, 1996. A circular spread of soil (dims. c. 32m N-S; c. 35m E-W) indicates the former extent of the site. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
