Unlocated castle within the townland of Killawardy. According to the 1654-56 Civil Survey of Tipperary there was located in the Barony of Ikerrin, 'the castle of Killevardy' (Simington 1931, Vol. 1, 4). This castle may be the same building as the 'stone house' (TN029-090002-) in Killawardy mentioned in the 1654-56 Civil Survey (Simington 1931, 6).
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
