Situated on flat pasture in an upland area with good views. The 1654-6 Civil Survey (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 23) describes 'a stone house in repayre', along with a castle owned by Theobald Butler of Killoskehane. A two-storey, six-bay early eighteenth-century house was added onto the W end of the tower house (TN028-084001-), with datestone on the front of the house inscribed 'Built 1600, rebuilt 1865'. The first date refers to the tower house and the later date indicates when modifications were made to both the house and the tower house (Craig 1972, 46).
