What is recorded here

Situated near the base of the SW slope of a hill, with a river c. 50m to SW at the base of the slope. The site has been levelled but is still visible as a roughly circular area (diam. 19m N-S; 17.8m E-W) defined by a broad bank (Wth 2.6m; int. H 0.83; ext. H 0.35m) and wide outer fosse (Wth 5m). Entrance in SW quadrant (Wth 3.5m). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
