What is recorded here

Situated on a gentle N-facing slope in rolling pastureland. Depicted as a small circular enclosure on both the 1st and 2nd ed. OS 6-inch maps. The site has been levelled but is visible as a roughly circular area (diam. 18m N-S; 21.8m E-W) delimited by the faint remains of a fosse (Wth 2.3-3.5m). The interior slopes slightly to the W. Field boundaries run close to the E and N sectors. The site was inspected in 1958 and classified as a ringfort (OPW files). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
