What is recorded here

Situated in a broad valley in gently undulating terrain. Not indicated on the 1st or latest ed. OS 6-inch maps but identified by aerial photography taken in 1973 (GSIAP, R 117/8). The site has been levelled but is visible as a raised, roughly circular enclosure (diam. 29m N-S; 25.6m E-W) with a concave interior defined by a flattened bank (Wth c. 6.5m; int. H 0.32m; ext. H 0.54m). No evidence of an external fosse. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
