What is recorded here

Situated on poorly drained land in an upland area. A roughly circular area (diam. 53m NE-SW; 50m NW-SE) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 4m; int. H 1.5m; ext. H 2.5m) and outer fosse (wth 3m; D 0.5m) with possible entrance gap (Wth 6m) at E. A small bank in the SW sector of the interior encloses an irregular-shaped area and is probably a feature associated with a nearby farmhouse which is located to the NNW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
