What is recorded here

It is not possible to pinpoint the exact location of this destroyed site located in a large field of maize. The field boundaries to the N, W and S of the site have also been levelled. Described in 1963 as 'an old tree-ring' (OPW Correspondence) and was probably levelled shortly afterwards as part of Land Project Works. The OS 6-inch map representations suggest a possible ringfort classification. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
