What is recorded here

Situated on a gentle N-facing slope in undulating terrain. A poorly preserved site consisting of a circular area (diam. 26.7m) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 2.6m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H c. 0.5m) denuded in places and levelled in the N sector. The site is used as a garden with evidence of burning on the S bank and refuse dumped on the W bank; a concrete shed is built immediately outside the N sector. An old trackway slightly truncates the bank at E and a modern track skirts the exterior at W and S. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
