What is recorded here

Situated on a gentle W-facing slope in undulating pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 26m) sloping to the SW, enclosed by a broad, partially levelled bank (Wth 7m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.8m) and a shallow, external fosse (Wth 6m; D 0.26m). A field boundary curves to respect the N edge of the site. There are small areas of quarrying in the S and SE sections of the bank and dumping in the fosse at N. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
