What is recorded here

Situated off the crest of a hill on a gentle SE-facing slope in undulating pasture. The site has been levelled but is still discernible as a slightly convex interior (diam. 65m N-S; 59m E-W) defined by a bank (Wth 3.4m; ext. H 0.64m) largely reduced to a scarp, a shallow fosse (Wth 7.2m; D 0.39m) and a flattened outer bank (Wth 8.9m). Field boundaries intersect with the N and E edges of the site. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
