In 2000 archaeological excavation by Donald Murphy revealed evidence of a Fulacht Fiadh which covered an area approx. 2.35m x 5.75m. A single pit (1.6m x 1.25m) was uncovered underneath the burnt spread, no trough was evident (Bennett 2002, 320). Excavation was carried out under licence No. 00E0227 (Bennett 2002, 318).
