What is recorded here

Seventeenth-century mill indicated on the Down Survey (1655-6) map of the Manor of Nenagh (Gleeson, 1936, 262) and indicated as 'The Manor Mill', in roughly the location of the mill on the 2nd ed. OS 6-inch map which is depicted as 'Nenagh Mill (Corn)'. Field inspection established that there is no evidence of any mill pre-1700 in area marked on 1st and 2nd ed. OS 6-inch map. Modern factory located in area marked on 6" OS 6-inch map. Mill remains unlocated within the townland. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
